The Christmas knocked at the door
Yes ,it is this festive spirit in the air
Lights flickering on trees , the garlands snaking over
Balls mirroring in crystal glasses, gifts waiting to be open
Phone ringing off the hook ,the wishes pouring
I never was alone , reality today is louder then never
No Christmas tree,no gifts under in the shiny paper
No clinking of the glass or ringing either
Nobody come to see and say hello ,Merry Christmas
My mother use to ask to help with decorations
I 'd drop the glassy ball or two ,they were fancy
Later having daughter of my own,we'd repeat the story
Picking,choosing,laughing,dog wondering about commotion
All gone,I am here, she is there, mother in the angel's abode
Hard candy sticking to the mouth, difficult to swallow
I have no right to interrupt the party going
Not telling anyone ,cats scratching heart
From street I come, closing the door, leaving the cheering out
The lonely Christmas tree on cold winter night
